AWARDS: 89 points of Luca Maroni 2017.
Due to its overripe character, it calls for spicy or even hot dishes, ditto stews, strong game dishes with mushrooms and blue (or green) mold cheeses.
- climate
-
Puglia (Apulia) comes from the Roman A-Pluvia, which means without rain. This already says a lot about the climate. Mediterranean climate with very warm and dry summers and mild winters with limited precipitation.
- soil
-
Poor, red sandy soils rich in iron and lime.
- vinification
-
100% Primitivo. The bunches of grapes are first broken and not yet harvested so that they can continue to ripen on the bush itself. 2 weeks later follows the final picking. Then follows a classic fermentation in large wooden barrels and it is further aged like a normal wine.
