Château Le Clos du Notaire - ()

Already in 1874, this vineyard was classified as a deuxième cru. Later, the vineyard was bought by Henri Coutin, a notary in Jonzac, who renamed it “Le Clos du Notaire”. His son sold it to Roland and Sylvette Charbonnier. In 2015, the domain was taken over by Amélie Osmond and Victor Mischler, the current owners. Clos du Notaire already had an extraordinary reputation at that time. At that time, the range only included their 2 classic and iconic Bordeaux (AOC Côtes de Bourg). After the takeover, several drastic changes were made, both in the vineyard and in the cellar. In addition to the classic Bordeaux range, this resulted in a range of wines that left the beaten track, changed practices and completely turned the relationship with their appellation area upside down to surprise with an infinite number of possibilities. The new range was aptly named “Borderline” (AOP Bourg). Amélie and Victor like to call themselves: “Vignerons Iconoclastes”. They work completely organically and with minimal intervention.
